The second part of this story picked up pretty much where the first "Baby Pact" book left off. I might as well tell you now there will or should be another book in this series. There is still a lot that was not resolved by the end of this story.As a refresher (I needed one initially) two mates an Alpha Wolf and a Beta Wolf who were already in a couple realize they had a third mate - an Omega Dragon. The families of the Wolves were very unhappy with their friendship which had progressed to a relationship. They usually denied the importance of Lucien and Cyrus' relationship or even acknowledged that the two had relationship. Their families' opposition actually strengthened their bond. When their Omega joined them, this three-some fell in love.
They braved hardships throughout the first book, especially the Omega Ice Dragon, Gail and the Beta, Cyrus. Taking care of each other, including daring rescues. All which ultimately culminated with the pregnancy of the Omega.
This next book shows that the trio have a very strong and much needed ally in the form of one of their Fathers, also an Omega, who'd experienced many of the same prejudices and discriminatory practices faced by Gail. There are organizations that have been established to help Omegas, none of which Gail knew about. He needs a lot of help to gain his independence from a family determined to marry him off to another Dragon. His mates do all they can to support and protect him, as well as the young lives he carries.
As it turns out Gail's family has been using a shifting suppressant since he was a young teen. Suddenly he begins to feel the pull and pain of his first full moon. In the meantime since Cyrus has had the funding for the Shifter School he presides over pulled, he now has to come up with alternative sources or his young charges will be integrated into schools with Humans. Causing untoward damage, chaos, and trauma to both the Human and Shifter children. And he needs more staff at the school.
Lucien is doing all he can to keep his growing family safe. Despite the best of intentions he makes some critical decisions/mistakes that angers both his mates. As the Alpha of his little pack, Lucien feels justified in the decisions he makes, but he knows keeping secrets will anger those he's doing his best to protect. And just how does one go about planning a wedding in the midst of craziness?
While this is an enjoyable continuation of the Baby Pact series, I don't want you to be disappointed when you learn that the babies still aren't born by the end of this book. There is angst, a drawn out secret, and a sudden vicious violence. Questions are still pending: Is the school going to be saved? How do the three immediate families reactions to the pregnancy? What hoops does the little Omega have to jump through to gain even the smallest bit of independence?

Once again we find poor, beautiful Gail trying to claw is way to his happiness. Picking up right where we left Gail, Lucien and Cyrus, in the previous book, we see that at every turn it seems hopeless for Gail and his mates.
From his family interfering, the law, the lack of help in every direction, Gail starts to think it's hopeless but inside of him, their children grow so he knows he can't give up, even if the fight for their freedom, his freedom, seems so futile.
Through all of their frustration and fighting of the system we really see the bond and love between Cyrus, Lucien, and Gail grow to so much more. Truly they have found what completes them and brings them ultimate happiness. If only Lucien and Cyrus can find a way to keep Gail from getting taken from them.
Through all of this you see how truly evil Gail's family is. They just want the status and the notoriety they would get from selling off Gail to a powerful alpha and truly don't care about what Gail wants. And that other Alpha they're trying to force Gail to marry is even worse!
The hopelessness and frustration of their situation really gets to you so be ready for that angst! lol...
Finally, when it seems all hope is indeed lost, Lucien and his mates find an unexpected light in the darkness that is their society. Lucien's parents prove to be the biggest ally (if not being their trump card in all of this) that they could have hoped for. Also, a bigger secret is revealed, one that gives light as to why Gail's family is so keen on ruining his happiness.
But they're all about to get their biggest surprise yet....
If you've read the first, you MUST pick this second one up! But do be warned Gail's children are not yet born. They'll likely be coming in the third book, but mpreg lovers, don't let that deter you! This is a must read!
I'm so badly anticipating the next (final!?) installment to Gail, Lucien and Cyrus' story.
Quick read but absolutely amazing. I love it and can't wait for the next one. Great character development and storyline.
Excellent second in the series. It will probably be one I read again and again as the 3 way dynamics of the relationship was different and interesting.
These just keep getting better. I love this family and can't wait to see what's next.
I really enjoyed book 2 and seeing how the characters evolved. I would have given it 4 stars but there where allot of typos and could have used more editing. I will be buying book 3.
So much happen to them that you thought that it wasn't meant to be but it came out right. Was very disappointed that we never found what happens to Gail's family after all the trouble that they cause, also would have love to hear how they handled the birth of the babies, I think it would have a hoot see their reactions to it all. Loved the series.
In excahnge for an honest review I received a free copy. I loved reading this story, in my opinion it was better then the first book of the series, it continued to develop the character more and also give more background on the supporting characters as well. The plot was great and the story picked up a nice pace, there was also some more fighting action, and love. Hoping this isn't the last book of the series. )
