In reading this book, you will most certainly learn a few things you did not know about Pittsburgh and it WILL surprise you!
Good read for persons who lived or are living in Pgh to give a flavor of the city, but could have been broadened to include some of the nearer suburbs.
It had a number of interesting facts about early Pittsburgh history but the ebook version do not include any of the regional or city maps which would be a big help in understanding the text
Born and raised in Pittsburgh I am ashamed to say that I knew very little about the history of my beloved city. This book was very informative and ended up being the starting point for a number of family discussions.

Except that not, which makes it insulting.
This "book" seems to be a college assignment or something of the like. It is only 46/47 pages long, the remainder being references. I know it is supposed to be a "brief" history, but being that Pittsburgh is such an old city you would expect more. It seems disorganized when reading it and all the images have been removed... except that the captions are still there! So you would read "[image bridge over Pittsburgh]" in the middle of a page for no apparent reason. Save yourself time and go get a real book about Pittsburgh. If anything about literature that I have learned in school is correct, this is not even a book, it is a magazine.
I had bought two of these, one for my history loving sister, but I would be embarrassed to give her this as a Christmas present. I am returning them and buying some good books instead.
